Rental Car Damage Protector offers primary coverage on a daily basis. If the rental car is damaged in a collision, vandalized, stolen or damaged by a severe weather event, you will have primary coverage, up to the benefit limit, with no deductible. Depending on plan chosen and state of residence, your plan may also include additional benefits like Travel Accident Coverage, Baggage Coverage and Trip Interruption. Rental period cannot exceed 45 consecutive days.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
The SLI policy sold on Pteet.com covers up to US$1 Million in Supplemental Liability Insurance per accident aggregate, with a limit of US$200,000 per person per accident.

  • Supplemental Liability Insurance is excess of any and all applicable other insurance including, but not limited to, personal auto insurance or corporate auto insurance designed to provide coverage for Individual renter/driver.
  • Coverage is based on 24-hour increments. For example, 3 days of coverage purchased for July 1 at 10AM means coverage ends on July 4 at 10AM. Returns after 10AM on July 4 would incur an extra day of insurance. (all times local)
  • $10,000 Property Damage limit.
  • All Losses must be reported within 30 days of Date of Loss.
  • Coverage is available for all private passenger vehicles that seat 8 people or fewer.

Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI)
The RCLI policy sold on Pteet.com covers the statutory state minimum liability as primary coverage. See each state limit here.

  • RCLI is primary rental car liability insurance that covers the state minimum in all US states. Example in CA a maximun combined $35k of coverage
  • Bodily Injury - Per Person - CA Example: $15,000
  • Bodily Injury - Aggregate - CA Example: $15,000
  • Property Damage - CA Example: $5,000
  • All Losses must be reported within 30 days of Date of Loss.
  • Coverage is available for all private passenger vehicles that seat 8 people or fewer.

Coverage starts when you pick up your rental car and ends when your return it; provided you have purchased your plan for the dates of your rental.

You should purchase a new policy for the extended period, but you must purchase it before your original policy expires. If there is a lapse in coverage, then coverage is no longer available and any additional days of coverage purchased is invalid. Total number of days covered cannot exceed 45 for damage insurance and 30 days for the liability insurances.


If you are not completely satisfied, you have 15 days (or more, depending on your state of residence) to request a refund, provided you haven't started your trip or initiated a claim. Premiums are non-refundable after this period.


Yes, as long as coverage is cancelled before the rental dates begin. Please click here and send a written request to cancel your plan. Please include your order number. If we are contacted after the rental dates begin, please forward proof that you did not rent the car.

Plans are only available to U.S. residents and may not be available in all states or for all cars. Rental Car Damage Protector is available in most foreign countries for eligible cars. No coverage is provided for motor vehicles rented in Israel, Jamaica, Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.

Rental car damage insurance plans that are sold on Pteet.com may cover citizens and residents of the United States.
However Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) can be purchased by residents of any country provided the trip takes place in the USA.
Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) can also be purchased by residents of any country provided the trip takes place in only the USA.

Best Co., under BCS Form No. 52.201 series or 52.401 series, or Jefferson Insurance Company (NY, Administrative Office: Richmond, VA), rated “A+” (Superior) by A.M. Best Co., under Jefferson Form No. 101-C series or 101-P series, depending on your state of residence and plan chosen. Plans only available to U.S. residents and may not be available in all jurisdictions. Allianz Global Assistance and Allianz Travel Insurance are marks of AGA Service Company or its affiliates. Allianz Travel Insurance products are distributed by Allianz Global Assistance the licensed producer and administrator of these plans and an affiliate of Jefferson Insurance Company. If the rental car is stolen or damaged during the scheduled rental period and while on your trip, Allianz Global Assistance will pay you the lesser of the following, up to the maximum benefit listed for Rental Car Damage and Theft Coverage on your Declarations:
1) The reasonable and customary costs to repair the rental car, including reasonable charges for loss of use imposed by the owner of the rental car while the rental car is being repaired; or
2) The actual cash value of the rental car, less its reasonable salvage value.
